AR-15
2018 · sculpture, performance · AR-15, ultramarine pigments
A performance created for the 20th anniversary of Locust Art Projects in Miami.
A woman in a full blue body suit assembles a semi-automatic ghost gun. Once the weapon is built and functional, she applies ultra-marine pigments. The intention is to make the gun disappear with the live video technique of chroma key. The piece was then exhibited and whomever tries to manipulate the AR-15 will have their hands stained blue.
In 2020 more than 43000 people have died from gun violence, that is more than 115 a day.
